David Vial is the founding Director of IOSS.
He has over forty years’ experience in the parks and recreation industry – including the public sector, private sector, and academia.
Having worked with over 150 Government Authorities since forming IOSS in 1997, David has been involved in numerous projects across a wide spectrum of topics relating to public space; and has developed invaluable experience and knowledge relating to all aspects of public open space.
David has extensive experience consulting and engaging with decision-makers, the community, and stakeholders at all levels.
David has continued his interest in education, through participation in curriculum development and lecture presentations for the National Parks Board in Singapore.
Prior to founding IOSS, David was with Brisbane City Council, Charles Sturt University and Wangaratta TAFE College.
David’s commitment to the park and recreation industry extends beyond paid duties, to the co-ordination of the regular SEQ Park Managers Forum; and co-ordination or participation of various forums and workshops at the local, regional, national and international level: parks, urban trees, sportfields, assets, benchmarking.
