Parklake Estate Park User Study

Parklake Estate was a located in a new urban development in Maudsland on the Gold Coast. A feature of the estate was the comparatively high level of design and infrastructure provision this park including:.

  • Large children’s playground including a giant slide, swing areas, water & sand play area, large play platforms and a flying fox
  • BBQ and picnic nodes
  • Community oval and rotunda
  • Teen/adult activity/play nodes
  • Basketball half court
  • Private swimming baths for Parkland Estate residents
  • Network of paths, stairs and bridge
  • Creek and lagoon area
  • Highly landscaped garden beds and surrounds

The Gold Coast City Council was pursuing a benefited rates adjustment for the local community surrounding this park, as the level of service to Parklake Park was over and above the typical service levels required at most other parks throughout the City.

The primary objective of the Parkdale Park User Study was to determine the ratio of estate residents visiting the park to users from outside the rateable area. This may assist Council in proportioning the costs to maintain the park and determine a suitable rate adjustment.
