Tall Grass and Weed Management in Public Open Space Research Project

From July 1999 to June 2003, Horticultural Australia Limited (HAL) sponsored IOSS to undertake research into tall grass and weed management in public open space. The four-year project involved the following major areas:

  1. Studies in turf improvement via the control of undesirable species through wick wiper technology;
  2. Species testing for superior turf grasses for lower maintenance parklands;
  3. Development and low cost establishment of desirable grasses; and
  4. Determination of the magnitude of environmental weeds in rural roadside areas in the greater Brisbane area; and the investigation of integrated management strategies for environmental weeds in roadside areas.
